Andy Rupp

Having grown up on La Palma, Andy knows the island and its trails like no other. Constantly on the lookout for new routes, his life revolves around biking. He has been guiding since he was old enough and rides every kind of tour, from the altitude battle to the “Megatrail”. As a former licensed rider, these weeks are his specialty.
In everyday life, he coordinates the process and is the go-to guy for everything.
His commercial training in the two-wheeler sector (Berlin) and his passion for inspiring you lay the foundation for Mountainride.

Silvi Rupp

Owner / Store / Booking / Design / Casa Sansofé

In 2014, she moved from the Ostalb to the beautiful island in the Atlantic and has lived here all year round ever since. As a trained media designer, she has worked in the bicycle industry from the very beginning. The joy of mountain biking came naturally to her on La Palma.
With the opening of Casa Sansofé in November 2018, her field of activity also expanded and, as a project close to Andy and Silvi’s hearts, the founding and opening of MountainRide La Palma followed shortly afterwards – in the same building. Here she is responsible for bookings, the graphic design and everything else.
What Silvi particularly appreciates about La Palma is the wonderful nature, the mentality and warmth of the locals and, of course, the delicious food!

David

Managing Director Taxi / Transportorga

Our man for all transportation: since he got his driver’s license, he has driven everything – from public buses to fire engines. That’s how Andy came to ride the school bus with David when he was still at school.
Their paths crossed again in 2016/2017 when David was assigned to the local bus company for the bike shuttle.
In 2018, THE opportunity arose to make David a permanent member of the team with a cab, and since then he has been our man for everything, a fun driver who is always attentive and helpful.

Nieves

Managing Director Casa Sansofé / Cleaning lady

Our fairy godmother of the house: Often the best things happen all by themselves. Nieves is David’s wife and a real fanatic about cleanliness. She was fully involved in the construction of our Casa Sansofé biker house from the very first hour and lent a hand everywhere.
She makes sure that everything is sparkling and shiny and that guests feel completely at ease.

Felipe

Workshop / Guide / LOS LLANOS

Columbian-born Felipe (“Pipe”) has been an indirect member of the team for a number of years now – whenever there’s a need, he’s at the start or joins in on tours.
With the growing workshop workload in recent years, we’re delighted to have him on board as a permanent team member in the store since November 2022. In the workshop, he and Dani keep the rental bikes in good shape and take care of everything from minor repairs to shock servicing.

Especially in summer, he also leads tours as a guide in Spanish and English.

Pablo

Sales / Purchasing / LOS LLANOS DE ARIDANE

Reinforcement in our store team in Los Llanos: Pablo has been on board since spring 2024 and takes care of purchasing and sales. This jack-of-all-trades quickly familiarized himself with the subject matter and is a wonderful addition to our team.

We are delighted to have Pablo on board!

Arley

Workshop / Sale / SANTA CRUZ DE LA PALMA

Competence, many years of experience and passion: Arley is our contact for repairs in Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Highly trained through regular further training and with a great deal of specialist knowledge, the active racer reliably takes care of everything – from a small overhaul to a complete check with fork and shock service.
We are proud to have him on board – as a valuable pillar for our store in Santa Cruz.

Ivan

Sale / Workshop / SANTA CRUZ DE LA PALMA

Another well-known face in cycling on the island: Ivan successfully ran “Tri-Ciclos” in Santa Cruz de La Palma for over 10 years. He joined Mountainride at the end of 2023 and is happy to provide advice based on his many years of experience. Whether it’s the right new bike, functional clothing or improvements to your own bike, the passionate road bike and XC rider knows his stuff and is happy to pass it on.

Together with Arley, he forms the ideal team for our bike store in Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Alby

Sales / Workshop / SAN PEDRO

Nothing separates Alby from his bike for long periods of time – another passionate biker in our team who can regularly be found at road bike and cross country races. Thanks to his open manner and many years of bike experience, he provides competent advice and is on hand with help and advice.

The all-rounder is responsible for our branch in San Pedro – in the former Luque Bike 21 store.

Timbre

Doorbell

Timbre decided to move in with us in the summer of 2022 and has occupied the wall of our driveway ever since. She owes her name to her increased need to communicate, because she announces every “visitor” with a loud “meow” – timbre means doorbell.
We don’t know where she came from, only that she feels incredibly comfortable with the attention she gets from the guests.

In the morning, she supervises the tour preparation and in the afternoon she joins the cozy round after the tour.

Micha

Guide

Micha visited La Palma for the first time in 2015. He was also captivated by the island and has been a guide here for a few weeks every year ever since. He has been on the island for six months since the 2019/2020 winter season and we are delighted to have him as a permanent part of our team. His supreme discipline is Just Trails Flow – the main thing is beautiful trails, good food and an Anís con hielo 🙂

Philipp

Guide

Philipp has been part of the team since winter 2023/2024. Born in Germany, he has been drawn to faraway places for years, be it the summer season as a bike guide and instructor in Saalbach or the winter season as a bike guide on cruises – the main thing is to be out and about.
After just one season, he has already grown fond of La Palma and we are delighted to have him on board as a permanent team member!
Our guests particularly appreciate his professional manner and his excellent knowledge of human nature, which enables him to organize tour groups appropriately and give tips along the way.

Dani pupil

Guide

Dani, Andy’s brother, naturally also grew up on La Palma. Both have spent a large part of their lives on their bikes. Even though Dani now lives in Germany, he is on the island once or twice a year for a few weeks and supports our guide team.

Jan

Guide

Jan has been a guide on La Palma since 2014. His specialty is Just Trails / Megatrail and he prefers to collect meters of depth. He takes every opportunity to get on his mountain bike and gives well-measured tips on riding technique. Every year he spends a few weeks with us as a guide on La Palma.

Björn

Guide

Björn fell in love with the island of La Palma over 10 years ago. A vacation turned into a winter job and now, after a few years away, he is back to share his enthusiasm as a guide on a weekly and monthly basis.
